Tsaghkadzor is one of the most beautiful mountain resorts of the world. This resort- rich with recreation customs- is situated on the South East of mountain range Tsaghkunyats, 1840m above sea-level. It is surrounded with mountains (the highest of which are Teghnis/2820/ and Tsaghkunyats/2851/) that are covered with thick and verdant forests. Not long ago Tsaghkadzor was announced an international tourism center. It offers, perhaps, the largest variety of active recreation in Armenia.
Tsaghkadzor-Lake Sevan-Garni-Gehard-Yerevan (170km, 7-8hrs)
Today we will visit Lake Sevan – the emerald of Armenia, a beauty under the sky. Lake Sevan is considered to be one of the largest sweet water lakes in the world, situated at an altitide of 1,897 meters above sea level. Climb on peninsula from where the fascinating view on the Lake is open. Visit Sevanavank monastery.
Then we will go to the Pagan Temple of Garni. The Pagan Temple of Garni is the only non-Christian temple currently standing in Armenia. The architectural complex of Garni was Armenia’s foremost center of Hellenistic culture and the summer residence of Armenian kings.
Geghard is an incredible ancient Armenian monastery, partly carved out of a mountain. It is said that the Holy Lance that pierced the body of Christ was kept here. The architectural forms and the decoration of Geghard’s rock premises show that Armenian builders could not only create superb works of architecture out of stone, but also hew them in solid rock. It is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
